woke up dis mornin a bit vex… not sure why… But when I picked up my pen and this came out…. I’m all good now… yeah… all good

On a clean page I can rage like fire
When I can’t cuss or cry my pen blaze wid desire
Time feminine faction 2 touch a likkle mic da
manz dem ‘fraid as I flex wid might
tight lyrical content an a rhyme flow
cos its not da cleavage or how da batty show oh
ain’t no testosterone inflatin my ego
Mc Krude Reality gwaan show u how it go
I study rhyme like lyrical chess
About da battle wiv reality ‘n’ how I make it manifest
bless if my days been good more time I’m vex cos of my neighbourhood
so I’m a spit fire / word power explosive lyrical matter
splatter wack emcees demma scatter
dere flow maga when mine gets phatter
been surviving in this gutter I cough and splutter from
da filth needles piss and pipes
bust rubbish bags and smashed street lights
My endz drive me round the bend
cos too many man wanna send you to your grave early
murk a man dem switch dem get gully
chattin blagga blah rare on sum gangsta fake reality tip
another buckie bullet split sum ribs by sum blud that flipped
but no one snitched who did it
I see a next yout dead! erased from the stage of life
how soon before they prematurely out my light
it’s chilling/da killing is spilling blood in waterfalls of pain
God willing rebuilding da feeling of love will release da blame
forget hate and shame / release the pain in my brothers name
krude reality is the same for male and female
poverty sex drugs it’s da classic ghetto tale
But da feminine perspective is just the coin flipped
so pass the mic and cease da noise bout your car and your little d*%k Mc KrudeReality, cute on the outside
But da lyrics she spit mek yu freeze in yu dutty creps and fake Kleins

Last week we took the project to Stockton on Tees and we was jamming with some young and some older people who like to write.

We talked a lot about how young people and old people are looked at in society. SomeHOODY FOR AYLEENS BLOG people were saying that the media have a lot to do with how young people are looked at in a negative way calling them ASBOS and Hoodies. Then the older people were saying how they felt they were ignored by society and no one appreciated the contribution they make with the knowledge that they have.

434600-lgThe important part of the session though was how to get young and old communicating better. So we used the writing exercises below and wrote these intergenerational pieces.

1. describe you area in 200 words BUT use 100 to describe it in the day and 100 to describe it at night. – don’t forget to think about the smells, the colours, the sounds any thing that reprezents your endz. Click here to read the poem “Tha Endz” for an example then come back.

2. describe one of three people in the area of 3 different ages

  • my age – like teenagers
  • Middle age – like, working a full time job for a few years age, you know, like your parents
  • an old age pensioner, like Algernon. Click here the 118 about ‘im.

But describe them as much as you can, like, their clothes, their skin colour, their hair, the way they walk. Do they look like a nice person…? like, would you trust them wiv any of your stuff? Like, if you left your bike outside Lidl’s without a lock, would they nick it? Yeah I’m talkin’ about the OAP too, you know…. the one’s in my area don’t muck about!

3. Now let that person have three wishes

If you got any questions just email: ayleen.securityblog@gmail.com Put the word “QUESTION” in the subject box. And if you want me to put what you’ve written on the blog, then send it to the same email address with the word “LYRIX” in the subject box.

So Nuff Respek, yeh, an’ I see you on the other side

Bless Up!

WHAT’S YOUR NAME AGAIN? AND AGAIN…? AND AGAIN?

I was chattin to my brother the other day when we was walking to do the shopping and I swear to God, bout 15 different people hailed ‘im on road yeh, and all a them called him somefing different. I’m like, how do they know who they’re talking to? How does he remember who who he  is from one day to the next?
“Your name’s ELIJAH!”  I tell ‘im.

So I asked Mahmoud like what kinda effect having so many names mean can do to person cos he know what his name means.

I found out that Elijah means ” My Lord is God in old hebrew” and when I did google  my name, I found out that Ayleen means “messenger of God” (it’s greek origin). Well I’m trippin’ cos i never knew dat doooohhhh!

Venetia is a “woman from Venice” so I dunno where mum was goin’ wid dat one really…. tut…

And Benoit means “Blessed” in some french Benedict form thing.

Eh Eh. Never knew mum was so religious, yu get me, like, all into European ting and ting. More time, she just like the sound of it. But I ain’t complain’, I’m just wonderin how my brother can deal wiv all dem names, man. ‘Terror, Smugz, Big Blud”. I can’t even rememeber the rest.

So I’m just askin…

Do you know what you name means?  And what if you looked up?  Who in your family are you  named after? What’s the significance of your name to you? How comfortable with the one you got? Got a nick name or alias? If yes, how come? Do you act different for that nick name? If not,  if you could have another name what would it be and why?

When I got asked to do this blog I was a little bit sceptic. Just cos I’m not used to people ananlysing, not in a way where they can read my lyrics again and again. But I think it might be good to help me with my lyrics, making them strong. And I want to write more poetry.
But also, I must write some questions, put up some little writing jobs and exercises to get YOU writing cos dat’s the deal I made wiv Zena.
So watch this space. I’m looking for any MC or poet who wants to battle online too
